okay, first of all, it's not every other car. plenty of other cars require premium gas. secondly, don't bother. fill it up with regular. if i have my facts correct, you have a VTEC motor under there, so you should have no problem. if you don't, still fill it with regular and see what happens. it there's any pinging or knocking, step it up to mid-grade.

Acura's are special cars with special type of engines. It's mandatory to use premium unleaded fuel. If you don't, it will mess up the engine & good luck becuz the repairs for Acura are expensive. I would know.....we have an Acura. Always use grade 92/Premium Unleaded whenever you fill the tank. If you don't like it, then trade your car in for another model that can handle low grade.

Just sold my 1996 Acura TL 3.2. I had this vehicle for 6 years. Only once did I not put in premium fuel, and I noticed a significant difference in the performance. Have an MDX, and the performance difference seems less, but it is still there a bit.

You do not need to run premium fuel in your car. My siting is from Acura itself. In their Acura Magazine (which I believe is monthly,) a costumer wrote in asking the same question for all of Acuras vehicles. Acura replied its not necessary to use premium on everyday driving, but it helps increase performance when say you are carrying a large load in your vehicle or are taking your vehicle on prolonged trips. BTW: the Legend utilizes a knock sensor system, in which the computer automatically adjusts for the lower octane (i believe it retards the timing,) and you are able to run on a lower octane gas. As far as the engine is concerned, it is a C32a 3.2L V6, single over head cam, utilizing a Variable Induction System, which is NOT VTEC.

I drive a car that says to use premium fuel only. I have used regular unleaded at times and it worked fine. I try not to get into that habit tho.

have you looked under the hood? Does it look like it has a turbo? Do you even know what car you bought? Did the previous owner told you it had a turbo? Acura never made a turbo car until this year with the RDX. The first ever for Acura in 2006. I know because I am a factory trained Acura technician

I believe the engine is a small high compression engine. Without the right fuel mixture u wont get the right compression and possibly cause wear to the the engine.

Because the engine was desinged to run on a harder to burn fuel and if you don't use it you may develope knocks and pings. Also, an easier to burn fuel, like regular unleaded, may burn to hot and melt holes into your pistons.

The cheaper the gas the dirtier it is. The higher octain allows the car to perform at its peak. it also extendst he life on your engine. It wont leave as much carbon buildup on ur valves and allow the engine to live longer.

it's a high compression motor. if you put a lower grade gas,the engine will start knocking.
