You test 2 hours after you STARTED eating. If you are a slow eater, test again about 30 min or so, just to make sure that your numbers are back to the "normal" range. I thought that it was when you finish eating, but I was wrong. Good luck with the diabetes. Remember, it's only for a little bit...after that bundle of joy is here, you can relax a little on what you eat. I have it, and it crushed me when I found out. The more you know about it, the less that you will freak out about it. I go in on this Sunday to start labor...good luck with your baby!!!

I had it when I was pregnant. My doc had me testing 1 hour after I finished eating - but whether it's 1 or 2 hours is really up to your Doc. Anyway, what you really wanted to know is if you do it one hour after you start or 1 hour after you finish. My doc told me to to do it one hour after I finished, even though the diabetic nutrionist said one hour after I started eating. I would say that you can safely wait and do it one hour after you finish, and then check with your doc on Monday. Good luck ~ hope you don't end up on insulin like I did. Boy . . . that was fun - not. I measured everything down to the last gram, too. You think finger sitcks are fun, try injecting insuling twice a day. Sorry! :-)

you should test before you eat and atleast an hour afterwards.

try to avoid a high intake of carbs in general. i know it can make you feel good with all the comfort foods but suprisingly people don't know that they increase your blood sugar. alot of people just think they need to watch out for sugar but thats not true. you can also test on your arm. i don't know why the medical people like the finger but the arm works just as good.
