There is a program in my home town that I participate in every Christmas. It is called "Adopt a Grandparent". It is hosted by "Meals On Wheels" which I do throughout the year. But the idea of this one is to "adopt" a person in a nursing home.
The nursing home assits the elderly in making a Santa list. Gift givers can chose a Grandma or Grandpa to adopt and fill their Santa list. I have neither so I adopt both. I love this because it is always the most precious things in the world that they want or really NEED. Like a night gown or pj's, slippers, beads, face powder (as one lady calls it), romance novels, lip stick, and chocolate covered cherries top the list.
We always toss somethng in "Toys for Tots".
At Christmas I invite 4 people every year for dinner. I go to "Haven House" a local women's shelter and ask for women without families. This year I have a Mother and daughter, and 2 elderly sisters coming over.
I love Christmas and all it means to me and my family. Sharing with others is what it is all about.
PS...........I am a real Christmas nut....I dress as Santa and go to the "Tree Farm" and pop in and out of the trees. Parents ask me if they can take a picture of the kids with me? I guess they bring their digital cameras to capture the tree cutting? The best one of all was a woman that ask if she could get her picture with me so she could sent it to her son in Irag!
I need to practice on my Santa voice though..one kid looked at me and said "Santa ain't a girl"...................
Merry Christmas to everyone.........spread the Spirit..................

I do not wait until this time of the year to do my "good deeds".
Year round, I visit those that are ill and run errands on their behalf.
One time, for about six months, I drove every other week to another state to take an elderly woman around town to run her errands because her family did not live close enough or had the time. I did it because I wanted to, not to get a pat on the back or any type of recognition.

I take part in Operation Christmas Child. With Operation Christmas we pack shoe boxes with hygiene items, toys, clothes, shoes, candy, and school supplies. Then the boxes are wrapped and shipped to remote parts of the world where children would normally not be able to get such items. I love doing it! It's fun shopping for the items! My family makes about 15 boxes alone! Then we make more at our chruch!

I do the same things at holiday-time that I do year-round. I donate food to homeless shelters and soup kitchens and I fund books being distributed to women's shelters. People need help all year long, not just during one arbitrary month during the year.

If you may have a virtual digital camera you'll be able to take images of vegetation and insects and things you uncover for your backyard. Nature may be very intriguing and being in a position to seize it on "movie" is a laugh. At least it's to me. Not very inventive however it is anything I could do.
