I was just wondering, I am talking about the healthy amount of time you can wait before peeing, and ALSO is it true that not urinating can turn into prostate cancer?

I can usually sleep the night anywhere from 10 - 15 hours without peeing but any longer might start to push my limits. Urinating has nothing to do with prostate cancer and the pee issue will not cause cancer of the prostate.

Some children hold and hold through school, for example. They don't like the bathroom at school or at a movie theater. But they are in danger of stretching the bladder wall eventually leading to a stretched bladder and difficulty urinating. Wet pants will probably happen.

Many adolescents think it is cool to wait and wait to out hold other friends. More wet pants.

It is possible to enlarge the bladder somewhat but not all at once.

The normal bladder is full at about a pint of urine, about 500-600
ml. or about a half a liter. There are variations before and after. A huge bladder holds a quart to a quart and a half or a liter to 1500 ml. That is rare.

I had a girlfriend who never visited a rest room all day and most of the evening, about 14 hours. Her genetic secret was a very large bladder which she never relieved when she first felt the need. Most of us feel the need to go at about a 1/2 pint. If we
wait awhile the feeling goes away until a pint or a little more is in the bladder. The first happens at about 2 hours. The latter need in 4 to 5 hours.

An additional note:
Training the bladder to hold more: if you usually go after 3 hours. Then the next time you really need to go, wait another 15 minutes. Then after about 2 weeks. Wait another 15 minutes for 2 weeks more. Keep adding your waiting time 15 minutes longer every two weeks. You will find that 4 or 5 hours is a maximum. Some people with ordinary bladders can wait for 8 or 9 hours, the time at school or work. Keeping up bladder teaching or training for a few weeks you will find that you will not need to pee until that maximum time when your bladder will signal you. Be sure to go soon after that time.

Of course if you are drinking a lot of water, coffee or tea or coke (caffeine is a diuretic) or a lot of beer. You will have to go well before your maximum time.

It really depends on the size of your bladder, and how much liquid you have in your system. In general, if it hurts (I mean physical pain, as opposed to just an intense need to urinate), you should probably go, because it isn't good for the muscles of your bladder to stretch them out too far, especially repeatedly.

Holding urine by itself shouldn't cause prostate cancer, but over time it could lead to symptoms similar to an enlarged prostate -- frequent and urgent urination, difficulty emptying the bladder completely, weak urinary stream, etc. -- due to the weakening of the muscles responsible for emptying the bladder. If you're experiencing these symptoms, you should have a doctor check you out to make sure everything is OK there.

no it doesn't lead to prostate cancer and each person is individual based on bladder size and detrussor muscle activity- some can't go 4 hours others can hold it 12 + hours

This is very individual. You will not be able to resist urinating once your bladder becomes too full -- it is simply too painful.

Second question: no, it's not true (to the extent of my knowledge, anyway).

No but if you hold it to long and to offen as you grow you will lose control of the ability to be able to hold it back.

So don't go around holding your pee or when your older you won't be able to and you'll piss your pants!

Well, according to my health teacher, you can't hold in urine of your own free will. If you hold it in too long, your body just releases itself.

no more than 24 hours....or the bladder will rupture, if that happens its not good.....and about the prostate.....doubt it..
