First, you need to divide the top # by the bottom #.
For example: 7/8

7 divided by 8 =.875

Then you multiply by 100, which pretty much means, move the decimal two places to the right.

So, your answer is 87.5%

Another example: 3/200
3 divided by 200 = .015
move the decimal two times to the right,
and your answer is 1.5 %

I hope this helps. :)

do the following. take the fraction you are given and write it down, then writ a fraction next to it with the nu,ber 100 as the denominator ( the botom number of a fraction) then put on X as the numerator. from there, cross multiply. and you should get somthing that looks like this. 4/25 = x/100 you multiply the first numerator by the second denominator. the whole proble should look like this. 4/25 = X /100 then 25x= 4(100) then 25x = 400 then you divide 400 by 25 then you put that number over 100 and you have your percent! ( the answer would be 16/100 = 16%)

Two ways to approach it (which generally involve the same mathematics).

Proportion Method:
Set the fraction equal to x/100. Then solve for x using cross multiplication.

Convert to a Decimal then a Percent:
Divide the numerator by the denominator. That will convert the fraction to a decimal. Then multiply it by 100 to make a percent.

If you need help conceptualising the theory of it, think of it this way: percent means "per hundred", right? So you just need to convert the fraction to being x out of a hundred (x/100).

So if you have the fraction 3/4, you can think of it like

3/4 = x/100

Then just solve it algebraically

3/4 = x/100
3 = 4x/100
300 = 4x
300/4 = x
x=75%

Hope this helps - i always think it's easier to remember how to do something when you know why youre doing it.

Divide the numerator by the denominator. The numerator is on top of the fraction bar, ( the line between them) and the denominator is underneath the fraction bar. The fraction bar also stands for division.

Divide the numerator by the denominator...

Ex. 1/2=.5= 50%

I learned it using cross-mulitiplication. Say you have 2/5 and need to convert it to percent:

2/5 =?/100

100 divided by 5 = 20
So you would multiply 2x20=40%

Get it?

Top number divided by bottom number. Move your decimel to the right 2 places and that is your percentage.
