Career wise it belongs to Hank Aaron with 755. During the season, Barry Bonds holds that record with 73 Homeruns in 2001.

Are you talking just MLB or professional baseball in general. Biigmac was right that the most home runs hit in a career was Sadaharu Oh who played in Japan. He hit 868 career home runs, 113 more than Hank Aaron.

the true home run king is Big Josh Gibson of the Homestead Grays. it is estimated he hit over 800 homeruns in his career in the NegroLeagues. and those all came off of far superior players than those who played in the MLB at the time. He passed away a few months before he would have had a chance to wreak havoc on the white players.
