What are some really unique ideas for door decorations for christmas? I'm going to a Medical school, and we have to decorate our classroom doors for christmas... what are some unique ideas? Using all the basic things, cotton balls, glitter, cardboard, colored papers, popsicle sticks etc. And maybe something with a christmas/medical theme? Have an awesome day everyone :)

For the medical theme, you could use various symbols or even recognizable bacteria, tools, or body parts, etc, associated with medicine.... then create one or more of those items with xmas materials like strings of tinsel or beaded-tinsel, ribbon, or individual bulbs, etc.... or could be sort of like a mosaic more than just an outline, using bows or those other things for individual parts of the image.

A caduseus (sp?) shape formed with wire-strengthened tinsel around a striped straight candy cane & some kind of (angel?)wings would be a possibility, but there are all sorts of other medical-themed items as well ... plus you could also tailor the image to the particular class taught in the room or a particular prof, etc.

Or in reverse, you could use medical supplies to make xmas items like decorated trees, snowmen, gifts, etc. Blown-up surgical gloves might be cool as antlers for a reindeer, etc.

To keep from having to use glue or nails, etc, on the door itself, you could make the items on a back board or base of some kind, then attach that with some of the new strong-but-removable adhesive putties, etc.... or even wrap the whole door with xmas paper then attach to that... or hang from something, etc.

Have fun!

Ack! We used to do this in junior high. (My class won twice in a row! Woo!)
A few quick ideas:

Christmasy landscape: Using cotton balls (slightly pulled apart), make "snowy hills" about 2/3rds up the door. Cover all the area below that with white paper. Now take photos, magazine cut-outs(Gap ads are probably great for this), snippets from old greeting cards, etc. Mount the flimsy stuff on tagboard. Then mount the pictures in whatever scene you like. I'd use those little foam scrapbooking dots (you can sometimes find 'em at the dollar store for cheeeep) so the images stand out from the background. Add a sun, or birds, or whatever in the "sky" above the clouds.

Window: Cut a piece of tagboard to the size you want the "window" to be. Draw a Christmasy picture on it-- Santa's workshop, a nice tree/fireplace scene (with sooty footprints!), etc. Next, cut a piece of tagboard the same size, but cut away most of the inside so that it's shaped like a frame. Glue that on top of the picture you made. Mount the whole thing on your door. If you did the "Santa's workshop" view, it'd be cute to put yellow "warning" tape over the rest of the door saying something like "Warning: Toy Production in Progress. Elves Only!"
