I am just wondering if any current vet students or recent veterinary graduates would share what type and how much experience they had before applying to vet school, as well as any suggestions on what I should do/get before applying. I will be filling out the application next fall and will have majors in Biology and Wildlife management and minors in Chemistry and Captive wildlife ( I am planning on going in to exotic/zoo medicine)

First of all, make sure to check the VMCAS website to make sure that you have the appropriate coursework. Second, make sure that your grades are high! Above 3.5 GPA. You will also want to have experience in the veterinary field. I have 5 freinds that went to vet school, and all of their GPA's were very high. Your GRE score should also be very high. You say you are planning on a career in exotic/ or zoo medicine- Do you really know how hard it is to get into that field? I am not saying it is not possible, but, there are really VERY few zoos, and very few opportunities to do zoo medicine. Finally, if you do not get in the first year that you apply, don't let it discourage you. It is harder to get into vet school than into medical school. There are only 26 vet schools in the US, and many, many more medical schools. Best of luck to you, and remember, keep the grades up, and be persitant. It took 3 years of applying for one of my friends to get in, she had a GPA of 3.9, a very high GRE score, and 10 years of animal experience!

ps- I ended up in graduate school instead, and I got into a program that only accepts 2 people per year.
