First, graph the two points on graph paper.

For K, go left 9 spaces and up 3 spaces from your center. Make a dot.

For H, go right 5 spaces and up 7 spaces. Make a dot.

Connect the dots to make the line segment.

Now use a ruler to locate the middle of the line. Which dot is it at?

a. Is the midpoint right 2 spaces and up 5?
b. Is the midpoint left seven spaces and down 2?
c. Is the midpoint left 7.5 spaces and down 2?
d. Is the midpoint right 5 spaces and up 2?

I hope this helps, and good luck! :o)

You are given that the two points are (-9,3) and (5,7), so just find the middle of that line.

Since -2 is the average of -9 and 5, -2 is the x value

Since 5 is the average of 3 and 7, the y value is 5

The coordinates of the midpoint should be (-2,5), so there must be a typo in the answers or the question.

-2, 5 is the correct answer

-2 is 7 away from -9 and also 7 away from +5 putting in in the midpoint

5 is 2 away from both 3 and 7 also making this the midpoint

I don't understand your exact question. In general, the midpoint of a line segment can be found by using X = the average of the X of the two endpoints, and Y = the average of the Y of the two endpoints, where average means add them and divide by 2.

Algebra is easer than drawing and measuring. A midpoint can always be found with the following:

(x,y) = ({[x1+x2]/2}, {[y1+y2]/2)

So using your question:

(x,y) = ({[-9 + 5]/2}, {[3 + 7]/2)
= (-4/2, 10/2)
=(-2,5)

If you draw this, it looks like it should be around there, so unless I'm waaayyy to tired (which is quite possible), I think you needed to add a negative sign in answer a.

your x coordinates are -9[k] and 5[h] you add them then divide by 2. -9+5=-4 divided by 2= 2.

then, you take the y coordinates and do the same thing. 3[k]+7[h]=10 divided by 2= 5.

so your answer is (-2,5)

[which isn't a choice]
