I did what gum hold its flavor the longest. It was a fun experiment and it was easy. It is also in alot of science fair idea books too.

In fifth grade, I did "Which Evaporates Faster, Water or Juice"? It was a simple project, but it was enough to get me a 100 from my very strict science teacher. Just keep a good day-2-day journal and take good pictures.

My daughter and her friend watched the stop sign at our corner to see how many people actually stopped at the stop sign. They stood off to the side so people wouldn't think they were intending to cross. They collected data like age (or actually their best est. since you can't really stop people and ask) male or female, time of day, type of car... Their hypothesis was that the older women would stop more often than others. Their conclusion was, well yours will probably be different anyway. They got 1st place for this project

I read about a cool one: a kid took samples of the ice at local fast food restaurants, and samples of water from toilets, and cultured the bacteria on agar gel.
She found that the ice in the beverage dispenser at the local Taco Bell had more bacteria than a school toilet.
I now think about this every time I go to Taco Bell.
