You wish to know why humans have been wondering ever since we were able to think about it. Scientists have been trying to figure out the meaning of life forever. If you look at it scientifically I would say that we are alive through evolution, because of the atmosphere that earth has that no other planet has.

Well the first and most logical reason would be because we are born. Beyond that there are too many answers to list and most of them are going to be personal. A better question would be what do you live for... but then that question has been a little over used.
