I have a five month old and she has been drinking enfamil gentlease. It is just soo expensive. I was wondering if anyone knows how the generic brands compare.

I use both Target brand and Parent's Choice formula for my baby. You know the funny thing? They are the exact same thing. I mean the EXACT same thing - both made by the same company, PBM Nutritionals, LLC.

Anyway, from what I understand from my doctor and best friend who is a nurse, the only difference between name brand and store brand formulas is price. There is also an article on babycenter.com that deals with this subject. I've listed the link below.

My advice? Save your money and go with the store brand.

Good Luck!

Yes, we've recently switched. You can hold the two cans up right next to each other, the ingredients and values are EXACTLY the same. Enfamil actually makes Target brand. Nestle makes Parent's Choice at Walmart. Plus the FDA has a requirement on formula that it has to contain specific ingredients and specific amounts of those ingredients in order to be put on shelves.

I have tries the Parent's Choice brand, and we hated it. He liked the taste okay, but it's kind of lumpy and cakey. I had to mix it it the blender, because if I just did it in the bottle, and shook it like usual, it would leave big lumps. So then I had to open the bottle and pick out the lumps with a spoon. It was a huge pain. The only other one I"ve tried is Enfamil Lipil....

We used Parents Choice from Walmart. My Dr told me it is the same nutrient wise and my friend who is a little nutty experimented and said it tasted the most like breast milk. So when my son was born we tried it and he liked it, so it has worked for us.

Plus it is less than 1/2 the price of the name brands so that is a big plus

I noticed the last time I was at Walmart they had a gentle version with the partially broken down protiens so I think this would compare.

Good Luck

If you look on the back of both cans, the name brand and the generic, you will see that they are pretty much the same. Also, if you have a WIC (Women Infants and Children) office in your town
you could possible apply and get your formula for free. If not the generic in my opinion is just as good if not better.

I used the target brand Enfamil and it worked just as good as the name brand.

I never switched my daughters from one brand to another but I hear that they are all the same if you buy the correct one that is comparible to the original. I heard Carnation GoodStart was not only cheaper but also very easy for babies' to digest. I would try it for a week and see what happens. Remember, no one ever died from switching formulas. If worse comes to worse, switch back.

Yes. My son was on Enfamil Prosobee with lipil. I switched him (with the drs advice) to Parents Choice Soy. It was the same thing and he didn't have any problems out of it. It is ALOT cheaper. Good luck!

My pediatrician said their are only minuscule differences in amounts of ingredient-the actual ingredients don't change-between brands but it can make a huge difference. Make sure that you ease into any change and keep a close watch on her. Parent's Choice worked better for my oldest-less gas- but my youngest was allergic to it. We ended up trying 6 different brands to find one he could use.
You can mix them together mostly old & little new-then half and half, then mostly new & little old.

I used the Wal-Mart brand. My boys are 11 and 8 and turned out just fine :)
