1. Seattle

2. Fresno

I would like the climate and weather of Fresno, Ca. The weather and the central location in California, will make your ability to travel better, enabling you to tour the area.

In terms of culture, Auburn is probably better, in terms of climate, Coalinga is way better. BUT if you don't mind driving a few hours, you can get to both the San Francisco Bay Area to the North and the L.A. San Diego areas to the south from Fresno which beat anything Washington has to offer by far, simply because of the diversity. Seattle is great but it's really the only interesting place you can get to from Auburn...

Oh, without a doubt, Seattle, Seattle, Seattle. I lived there two years and wish I still did. The whole Pacific Northwest is a great place and there are many educational facilities - so there are lots of students there. There's not much going on in Coalinga.

My daughter graduated from college in Seattle, and she loves the city. My son joined her there, and he is attending Seattle Central CC. They both love the diversity of people and the cultural attractions. Public transportation is excellent, and it is an easy city to navigate by foot. It does get cold and rainy in the winter, but if you can afford it, you can spend weekends skiiing and snowboarding.
Fresno is hot and dry, and is located in the Central Valley of California. I'm not sure of the cultural attractions in the area, but Yosemite National Park, the most beautiful park in the entire world, is just an hour away.
Seattle - cultural, sophisticated, urban, more liberal-minded.
Fresno - hot, dry, country-suburban, more conservative.

Seattle is the place to be. I lived near there for six years and absolutely loved the atmosphere. The people were so nice and contrary to popular belief it really does not rain all that much. California is so overrated. Go to Seattle!
