Chromium is a lustrous, brittle, hard metal. Its colour is silver-gray and it can be highly polished. It does not tarnish in air, when heated it borns and forms the green chromic oxide.

Chromium (IPA: /ˈkrəʊmiəm/) is a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Cr and atomic number 24.

Chromium is a steel-gray, lustrous, hard metal that takes a high polish, and has a high melting point. It is also odourless, tasteless, and is somewhat malleable.

The most common oxidation states of chromium are +2, +3, and +6, with +3 being the most stable. +1, +4 and +5 are rare. Chromium compounds of oxidation state 6 are powerful oxidants.

Chromium is passive with oxygen, i.e. forms a very thin, insoluble, protective oxide which prevents further oxidation of the underlying metal.

Chromium is a nice type of metal used to make many things including rims. They're usually referred to as chrome rims. It is pretty expensive so that's why they're bragging I guess.

Chromium is just an element. Its very shiny when used as a coating and rims coated in it tend to sparkle quite a bit. Other than being shiny, chrome is an excellent protector from corrosion. Other than that, not much.
