How many people are changing their fuel filters at the manufacturer suggested interval? My chevy truck manual says every 30k miles. I am in SW WI and havent heard of anyone having any problems. It could be that you have a few stations that had quite a bit of condensation in their tanks, who knows. Wasn't their a problem with fuel injectors last year?

to be safe put some fuel water separator in your tank
as well as fuel anti freeze just to be safe
the couple of dollars you spend on the additives is well worth it compared to the cost and labor to replace the parts that could break
and don't forget when you put the additives in the tank, you need to drive around so they get mixed up and go through the system
good luck

I haven't seen any problem, but if all your people fuel at the same place, the station may have water in the gas (or other contaminates)
I would guess that everybody has water in the fuel, and it has been freezing of late.
I am just north of Beloit.

I live in Cudahy, Wisconsin, and i have been using Speedway gas since 1992 with no problems. If you have been using Citgo gas, that gas has been prone to give vehicles problems. Last year, their was a rash of vehicles in shops with clogged fuel injectors. The problems were linked to a particular gas station that was Citgo.

there are MILLIONS of cars on the road, 5 is not even a hundredth of a percent. many people automatically assume fuel filter when its not needing replacement. every single car has at least 2 fuel filters, just like any other filter they are not meant to be permanent installations, you are supposed to replace fuel filters... you just made me so mad i cant even help you.
how many people do you know? how many people do you know who drive cars? have you ever heard of maintenance?
