I've been taking this almost nightly to sleep, I am on medication for bipolar and cannot taking sleeping pills.
I feel tired the next day, and cannot make myself clean, dishes, things like that, I go to work and function normally, just feel so tired all of the time, and I hide it so others don't know I sleep so much??
Could this be the Melatonin? Can you answer nicely, and not say "you're a lazy bi- or get off your ***, etc. you know the dumb stuff people say"

Yes, it can give you a sleep hangover the next day - I have taken it and get same results. Lower your dose to the smallest pill you can buy. Also try taking a walk for 15 minutes when you wake up.

Good luck sweety pie

If you are taking 1 1/2mg of Melatonin it should NOT give you a morning hangover. A typical dose is 3mg and should be taken 1-2 hours before bedtime. Never take it during the day, only at night to supplement your bodys natural production of melatonin. You might want to check your bipolar medication side effects. Could they be causing you to be so tired? What are you taking and for how long? If you feel the melatonin is giving you problems you might want to try an alternative such as "Calms" by Highland Brands. You can purchase them at Wal-mart and they are very inexpensive. You can use them during the day for stress or PMS by taking 2 tabs. At night you can take 2-3 tabs to help you fall asleep. I have used these for years. They are all natural, homeopathic with no side effects. I have also used melatonin at night with no problems. I hope this has helped. If you want more information go to your searchbar and type in "side effects of melatonin" and read through the lised sites.
Good Luck!

I know you can take 3 mg of Melantonin. You can try to take a full pill and see what happends. Melantonin worked for me at first but then stopped so I had to quit taking it. You could also go the other way and take 1/4 of a 3 mg pill.

Seratonin is what makes you happy (extacy makes your brain release it all) so you are probably right. I know your body produces more melatonin when its dark, so lets assume that does make you sleepy. You need to get some more sunlight.
