I can move them right and left but when i want to keep them closed and only let light come through it doesn't work. it just clicks at me and does nothing,,,HELP! i live in an apt so i hoping to fix this myself.

They do make replacement gears. Check Lowes or Home Depot to see if they carry the gear. They aren't the easiest thing to replace but Cheaper than a new Blind.
You will have to take the cap off of the end and slide it off of the shaft. Be careful not to move the shaft or you can throw the whole set of gears for all the verticals off.

The crank shaft is incorrectly outfitted/is lacking a bearing or so. Extract it and verify each and all the bearings are there grease it and tightly re in high quality condition . additionally verify that the pedals must be the source of the click. Pedals can many times be the source of a dodgy sound. if so new pedals is the terrific answer. Do remember, you get what you pay for.

things are built so cheap there is no hope. a plastic gear is broken and there is no way that i know of to get it apart, let alone fix it. guess you'll just have to bite the bullet and buy new ones unless you can get the landlord to spring. they are not that expensive.

either the gear is worn or out of alignment open it up to see if you can re align it before tossing it if it is stripped buy another

Best way to repair this is go to Lowe's and buy another blind

THE PLASTIC GEAR BROKE. GO GET YOUR WINDOW MEASUREMENT BEPENDING ON HOW IT IS HUNG NOW AND GO TO WALMART AND REPLACE IT.
