My baby was inbetween slow and fast flows at three months and the bottles I use only have fast or slow. I knew the slow flow was too slow when it was taking her forever to drink her bottle. She would even get frustrated and lose interest in the bottle. So, I started using the fast flow and I thickened the formula by adding a little bit of plain rice cereal(only two tsps). Then the flow was just right. Now my baby is 5 months and can use the fast flow fine.

Well my baby is almost 5 months old right now and we've increased the flow of her nipple because she seems to be getting a bit frustrated that she's not getting enough from her current stage nipple. Generally if the baby is getting irregularly cranky or you are having uncommon problems with your baby and you know it can't be anything else i.e. (diaper, tiredness, comfort, health, etc.) then I would assume that would be a decent indicator to increase the flow of the nipple. Good Luck hope this helps some.

I would say go with the flow... your baby will let you know when she needs to increase the flow. I was using 0-3 month nipples a little bit after that... When you see she sucks deseperately its time to increase.
