I have an 11 month old daughter, I found the Nuby sippy cups from Walmart work best for her. They kind of resemble a bottle and come in four different colors.

Okay, keep one bottle, him using the bottle for the next month is perfectly fine. Let him play with the sippy cup, put very little of something sweet in it like apple juice, then he will get use to the idea of having a sippy cup around. On his first birthday, then start putting water only in the bottle, and the "good stuff" in the sippy cup (most kids hate water, do not know if yours does or not). Then after about a month, leave the bottle empty, just let him play with it, and continue to put the good stuff in the cup. Whatever you do DO NOT GIVE UP, this will only say he has control, and trust me you do not want that. After a few months he will be drinking from the cup.
My advice for parents who have a baby under 6 months, at 6 months introduce the sippy cup and let them play with it, this makes it so much easier later. They would have had time to get use to the sippy cup and the transition goes smoother.

Back off for a little while since he is already upset about it. When you try again, make sure you don't try to force it when he is really hungry. Try a sippy at meal times or when he is playing. Sometimes, about 20 minutes before the last bottle of the day is a good time to try. Put something he likes, such as milk or formula, so he understands it is good.
Sometimes making bottles just for water and sippy cups for his milk helps. Don't push too hard yet, babies need to suck up past 12 months for. Make it a good thing for now, just cut back on his number of bottles. Some kids skip sippies and go straight to regular cups. Maybe offer him a small cup 1/4 full of water.

there are many varieties of spouts, have you tried different ones? Take him to the store and let him look at the cups and see what he likes. Don't offer him a sippy when he's hungry for a bottle, he will be upset at the change. After he's eaten, give him ice water in the cup, don't force it, just have it around. The cold water may be a fun sensation for him and he may try the cup. Does he have older siblings or cousins? Can he see them using sippies? It may inspire him to try it. Good luck

my daughter wouldnt use a sippy cup with handles at 11 months either but i went to wal-mart and bought (sorry i cant remember the brand ) a green sippy cup no handles kinda looks like a bottle but a little biger it comes with 3 different lids a nipple lid a sippy cup lid and a straw lid. i started her out with the straw lid because is resembles a nipple (never have i used the nipple lid) at 11 1/2 months and then at 12 months i switched to the sippy cup lid and now she never gets a bottle till time for bed. i was told by her doc and ive read in a few magizines not to give babies the sippy cups with handles because they arent sure how to use them so always start with one that doesnt have any.. anyway she is 13 months now and loves her sippy cup

Along with the other suggestions, you could try letting him play with the cup first, maybe the spout is too hard for him ? Try a cup that has a nipple closer to the bottle, but is shaped more like the regular sippy cup, I think Nuby has a starting cup, that has a softer spout with a nipple that is more on the square side then round like a regular nipple. If everything here fails, you'll just have to wait a bit longer and try again...

ok, shop one bottle, him utilising the bottle for the subsequent month is totally super. enable him play with the sippy cup, placed little or no of a few thing candy in it like apple juice, then he gets use to the belief of having a sippy cup around. On his first birthday, then start up putting water basically interior the bottle, and the "good stuff" interior the sippy cup (maximum youngsters hate water, do not understand if yours does or not). Then after some month, pass away the bottle empty, purely enable him play with it, and proceed to place the best things interior the cup. regardless of you do do not provide up, this might basically say he has administration, and have confidence me you do not choose that. After some months he would be ingesting from the cup. My advice for oldsters who've a infant below 6 months, at 6 months introduce the sippy cup and enable them to play with it, this makes it lots easier later. they might have had time to get use to the sippy cup and the transition is going smoother.

Just go slow with him. My son was off the bottle at 11months but he prefered his pacifier over the bottle. But like other people said give him the option to pick out his cups and let him watch you pour the liquid into the cup and just be patient.

Keep 1 bottle and throw away the rest so you won't be tempted to give them to him anymore. Give him the bottle only at night until he is 1 or so. Let him watch you pour his milk in the cup. He gets thirsty, he drink it. Also, buy the cups that attract his attention and have handles. Good luck

I would wait one more month and then try again. I didn't do this but a friend told her son the dog took away the bottle. Suckling is important to a baby's develpment thru 12 months of age. Best wishes. I know it's not easy, but you are really in a wonderful phase of life.
