Dawn of the Dead is, in my opinion, his greatest hour. Are his films better than Hammer? Well no, they are simply different. You can't really compare them. Romero's zombies are personal to him and quite political, the same as Fulchi's living dead are personal to him - his zombies being incredibly frightening to look at and are of a supernatural origin. Hammer's only zombie flick had the undead working in a tin mine, not quite the gore festival of today's films but quite spooky.
Land of the Dead was a brave film but it didn't quite work for me. The remake of Dawn, though quite effective, failed to capture the overwhelming feeling in Romero's original, that the world was over run by the living dead.
Where Romero will go next I have no idea. I'd love to see Zombies in some war torn middle east country. Now that would be controversial.
Try watching The Crazies and Martin next.

Got them all! I love George Romero. I was watching the newest scariest movies of all time today on Bravo and they had a lot of interviews with him. I actually really liked the Dawn of the Dead remake from a couple of years back. I was surprised that it was so good. I loved the original! The part where they tore the man apart in the mall and the zombies started gorging on his intestines was a classic scene!!

that is authentic that Romero did not get the unique copyrighted, yet i don't think of the remakes have been approximately making any money for him. His psychological supplies in simple terms grew to grow to be public area. It sucks, i comprehend. i did not even worry gazing the NOTLD remake (why mess w/a sturdy component?), yet I could say that the break of day remake wasn't all undesirable. a minimum of Romero did not get completely shafted on that one. and that i would not think of it might take as long as 30 years for the Land remake, look on the linked fee Hollywood is regurgitating thoughts. we would be fortunate if we don't see all the videos released this 365 days re-made in 15 years. unhappy.

Not only are the films great, but I also like how he has personally chosen the appropriate music.

However, I am disappointed how you have put down British films. Surely 28 days later ranks with or around the "Of the Dead" series.
