Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK, and he was arrested, but killed himself while in police custody by a man named Jack Ruby.
He killed JFK because he was a communist sympathizer, and didn't like that JFK was scolding the Soviet Union for sending "food, water, and material to help the people of Cuba survive", later we found out that those things on the list of what Cuba needed to survive included ballistic missiles, long range bombers, and nuclear warheads.

The CIA, as he was about to dismantle them.. the industrial military complex as they were on the outs as well.. the FBI because they (Hoover) had an ongoing feud with The Kennedy's and a marriage of convenience to the mob that involved everything from anti Castro propaganda to Illegal gambling...
The pristine bullet theory is as thin an explanation as we have ever known.. and yet that is what is taught as fact.. to school children. Makes you wonder how many other fables our perception is based on..

Or, as that great historian Oliver Stone said "The CIA did it - everyone knows that." When you're a super-rich white guy living in Hollywood (aka The Dream Factory) you can indulge in such nonsense and still be taken seriously.

re-enactment of the murder in various scientific areas as seen, for example, on the Discovery Channel, have shown that it was oswold who killed Kennedy and that he acted alone but then we are left with the question of why, whether to simply embarrass connelly, who had tried to keep Oswold from returning to this country from Russia, or whether in fact he was shooting at connelly for that reason and Kennedy was the result of bad shooting or simply to kill the president. You can see the smirk on his face in the pictures of oswold before he was shot - He thought he had done something to be proud of for whatever reason.
As far as Ruby killing Oswold, He had had the run of the police station for years, and had seen to number of criminals coming and going out again with their attorneys so he did what a very large number of Americans would have done at that very emotional moment, he shot Oswold for killing his President..
One other suggestion that I heard at the time from another person who had become American citizen was that he would have buried Oswold in the sand to the neck and put honey on his head!!
