I don't know if anyone saw that special on about what people would really do in a situation, but something one man said made no sense. He was in a cab & said that he wouldn't want his kids around gays. But to me that makes no sense. I have a daughter & I would feel safer if she was around a gay man than a straight one. There are nuts in this world. A straight man could try & molest her (not all but there could be a few) Am I the only once not understanding something? There are good & bad men gay or straight but I hear more about stepfathers molesting their stepdaughters than stepsons. So why are people afraid? Are they just stupid or am I just niave?

Oh I thought it was because they were afraid of their kids being molested. I had no idea people were that stupid

People fear anything that is different. I am a christian and would rather have any child of mine taken care of by any of my gay cousin than any one else I know. Most people are stupid!

I kind of saw the special (I have a really short attention span and only halfway watch the TV when it's on and am usually doing at least 3 different things when I am online), but I know what you are saying. People who do not like gay people think that if their kids are around gay people that the kids will think being gay is OK; it has nothing to do with possible molestation, they want their kids to have the same prejudices that they have.

I don't trust adult men period, never have. The only man I have ever trusted fully is my father. If I had children I would never leave them alone with any man, gay or otherwise. I have to build a great sense of trust to totally let down my gaurd in any situation. I saw the special. I'm pretty sure he ment it as if to say the gay man would make his kids gay.

people are incredibly stupid ime afraid
they equate homosexuality with paedophile...this is because this concept is pushed by the religious right and the media ....and avoids anyone having to look at the real statistics ...most kids are molested by a family member ...usually strait and usually known to the parents ....sad isn't it .gay men want other grown up developed men why would that change and suddenly want a child is so silly but the myth persists.

Actually, a man who molests boys doesn't mean that he's necessarily gay- just sick in the head like the dudes who molest girls.
... but I see your point.
I think that people are just willingly ignorant and stupid. They don't want to think that their straight neighbor/brother/husband/father would do something sick like molest their children... so it's just easier to blame it on "them" (gays, muslims, men with beards, etcetera).

First of all before I answer this question I want you to know that I do not approve of the gay lifestyle BUT I do believe in the freedom of being able to choose whatever lifestyle you wish to live. Some people are afraid of anything that is different from the lifestyle they know and refuse to accept the right of someone to be different. I don't think they are stupid. They just cannot accept something that is against what they consider normal as such.

Because some people are just flat out assholes and are to arrogant to open there eyes I am straight and have no problem with anyone sex orientation because It's not like we are the ones having sex with them I have a 7 and a 5 year old and they are very open minded about same sex relationships because I have lots of friends that are openly gay and I don't want my children to be closed minded about it and want them to accept everyone for it!!

fear and stereo typing by bashers make them feel this way. if there was a way we could educate them about the gay community we would have a much better world. but unfortunately people with narrow minds will never listen to another point of view

Maybe it wasn't the fear of molesting that he was afraid of.. He didn't want his daughter around a gay person, for in fear she may think that its ok to be like that.
