There is an over the counter medicine called Mylecon (Mylicon?) that works wonders for gassy babies.

Both my sons were like this. My son is 2 and still has trouble. Mylicon did not work for us at all. A friend of mine used a product called Gripe Water (here is a link http://www.coliccalm.com/baby_infant_newborn_articles/gas_problems_treatment.htm ) she got at the local nutrition store. She said it really helped but my son wouldn't take it because he is picky about taste.
A couple things I would suggest. First, if she is breastfeeding watch what she eats. Onions, garlic, spicy foods, broccoli, beans, cabbage, asparagus can all cause gas in her and thus the baby.
Next If the baby is formula fed the baby maybe a little lactose intolerant there are soy formulas and hypoallergenic. Parents choice makes a formula that is more gentle and has partially broken down protiens (you can buy it at Walmart) here is a web link. http://www.parentschoiceformula.com/?deptid=333&phrase=gentle-milk-formula
She should be sure she tries different burping positions and really work to get every bubble up. And when she put the baby down to sleep she could try to let her sleep elevated, like in a swing or car seat. If she is rolling over both ways and she feels comfortable with it, tummy sleeping helped both my boys. Once their bottoms were in the air they could pass the gas and go back to sleep, but laying on their tummy it just sits there and hurts.
I hope some of this helps!! Tell her good luck.

well my friend some times you got to try everything to know what the baby really wants, most of the time some people do not know but the temperature of the room is one of all the important things that a baby would need. Some times it cannot be diagnose as early as a new borne, but some babies have trouble sleeping because they are congested, and cannot breath well. But I not sure if this could help you because it can be many things, too much light or no lights at all. Some times at this stage babies do not feel fine when the room is to bright or they feel lonely when there is no lights at all. Babies love to be care and hold.

if the baby get gassy during feeding on a bottle try the Dr. Browns natural flow bottles. yes they are a little pricey as bottles go but they are worth the money. also if she is breast feeding sahe needs to watch what she eats. her diet affects the baby's breast milk. that goes for pumping the breast milk also. if those don't work take the baby to the doctor. also the tempreture inside the house should be between 68 and 72 degrees.

It is colic which means air in the belly.
U need to rub the baby's back at the lower bottom in circles
going slowly up the back and the baby will burp good.
A litte soda water will also help the baby burp.
Rock the baby and burp it good , it should sleep fine

If your friend is breast feeding tell her to stop eating any dairy products!!!!! The protein in cow's milk is very tough on babies tummies, and it comes through the breast milk. She can drink Soy milk instead. Tell her to just try it for a week and see if it helps. If she is formula fed, it could still be the same cause, most baby formulas are milk based. Nestle Good Start has a formula with special easy to digest protein. Tell her to try that too!!!!!!! I PROMISE THIS WILL WORK!!!!!!! Just give it a few days to kick in.

Why are you asking us? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to everybody (especially the poor little gassy baby) to take it to the doctor? We've all tried the over the counter stuff, and most of it doesn't work. take it to the doctor, get something that works, so that everybody involved can go to sleep, and stop passing gas.

My nephew had the same problem. I did two things. Little Tummys brand gas drops. The other was take the babys legs and push its knees up toward its chest for a few seconds at a time for a few minutes this should help force the gas out.

Don't use Mylicon, tell your friend to go buy some Gripe Water! It's 100% natural and works for not only gas, but teething and reflux too! It's much gentler on baby's stomach, too.

Gas drops for babies. I swore by them when my gassy children were babies. I did get some sleep at night and so did they.
