Real ones are nice because they have the pine smell, but they are a lot of work to keep up with. You also have to make sure that the tree doesn't dry out in the heat from your home and from being "dead" (not in soil) up until the holiday. The needles will fall so you'll have to periodically clean them up or you'll have a nice pile by the end of the Xmas season. Fake ones are nice because you can still have the whole Xmas illusion without all the hassle. If you have any pets, fake would probably be the best bet because they'll probably get into the tree and you wouldn't want to spend all night cleaning pine needles or whatever they are on Xmas trees outta their fur, would you?! =P Plus fake ones you can use over and over each year so that saves you the money and hassle of finding "the tree" when you get the real ones. Fake tree is just a one time payment. Real trees are money out of your pocket each year!
Good luck with your decision!

My family has had a real tree my entire life. So I continued to do that until last year. I bought one of those white pre-lite trees and used pink bows ONLY for my daughters second Christmas. It was beautiful.............
This year we have a real tree again. Not that we didn't like the artificial one. It can be packed away and brought out from Christmas to Christmas for a change of tradition.
My daughter is 3 and I wanted to take her to a tree farm and cut a real tree this year. So after Thanksgiving dinner all the family drove to the tree farm to pick one out. Then we spent the night decorating it.

Artifical! Here's my reasons:
1. They do not catch on fire
2. They don't prick you alot
3. You don't up with a bunch of pine neeles on the floor
4. You save money by buying a tree once, instead of buying a new tree each year.
5. You can get them pre-lit
6. You can move the tree branches to fit big ornaments
Good Luck!

I like real trees, because they have that "Christmas" smell to them. But they're more of a hassle, and I have a young son, so we have a fake tree.
Fake trees basically pay for themselves after a few years, epsecially if you buy one on Boxing Day. We payed $20 for our tree.

Hi there...
Well I really love real trees... it really brings the whole holiday together! But having pets or whatnot... an artificial tree is the way that I am going to go! Have a great Holiday!

Its Festivus for the rest of us. When celebrating Festivus, we use a simple, undecorated pole,
before dinner we tell each other how the others have dissapointed us through the year. After dinner is the highlight of the evening, a wrestling match
