Up to recently I would have said mountains. Spent a lot of time at the beach in the last couple of years and my answer is BEACH all the way

Depends on the mountains, depends on the beach.....no offense to anyone, but when I lived in Santa Barbara - ick! Their "mountains" didn't have snow - ever - and the beaches were gritty sand, cold water, and tar seeping up. Not my idea of a good time! Now, if you're talking about nice, soft, powdery sand and warm water...that's another story!

I *do* love those darned mountains, though. I'm lucky enough to live where I can see Mt. McKinley (Denali) if it's clear, and there are just no words to describe the majesty and beauty of a mountain.

Hey - why not a beautiful beach with mountains visible on the horizon? :o)

Hard question...

I like mountain and its freshness, but I know I'll have hard time adapting to the elevation level/ lack of oxygen.

Beach, who doesn't like beach? Although to be honest, I don't know how to swim, so...

But if I have to choose, I guess I'll choose beach 'cause beach is where the money's at, and it always sunny :)

Mountains. I love the remoteness, the stark beauty, the height. I love the snow caps and rock, the forests at the foot and the clouds at the top. Mountains make me feel relaxed, at ease and serene. I also love the sea, but mountains are the ultimate in beauty for me. When I see mountains I am captivated, they take my breath away.

The beach has this sense of peace & tranquility. Especially with the sounds of the waves, the colours of the scenery surrounding & you can lie back & just watch the sunset if you're lucky.

Southern Cali has both. You can be skiing in Big Bear in the morning, and surfing at Newport Beach in the afternoon!
