L-88 is Corvette RPO code for high output 427ci big block with single 4bbl. rated 430hp. almost certain its an iron headed engine. used mainly in corvettes in mid to late sixties (and maybe early 70'2?)

the 435hp rated versions used by Yenko and Baldwin Motion were "Tri-power L-72" had three 2bbls(like Chrysler's Six Pak)
