NaOH + HCL = NaCl + H20 Acid + base = salt + water sodium hydroxide + hydrochloric acid = sodium chloride + water No need to balance. It is balanced already without any numbers added. Hope that helps.

When an acid and a base react, the H from the acid and the OH from the base combine to form water. The remaining part of the base combines with the remaining part of the acid to produce a compound referred to as a "salt". In your reaction the Na left over from the base and the Cl left over from the acid form the "salt", NaCl which we call "table salt" but the chemist calls "sodium chloride".
HCl +NaOH = H20 + NaCl

NaOH + HCl ----->NaCl + H20
NaCl would be salt which is your "white solid" and H20 would be water

That would be NaCl, when a strong base and acid reacts, they form salt.
