I go through my cookies file and erase them, but when I check back later, there they are again.

I don't know what browser you are talking about, so for now let me point you to two different pages.

First, in dealing with Microsoft Internet Explorer, please see:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/cookies.htm

Next, another useful feature is managing Microsoft's "Hosts" file. This file can block unwanted ads, cookies and more... all from one place. To read about it, checkout this link:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

The little drop-down at the top of the page is helpful.

Hope this helps.

Depends on your browser. Most browser now have a feature to block cookies from a "black list" provided by you.

As an example, in FF go to TOOLS>Options>Privacy and you'll see the cookies tool.

If you are on a website that has an advertising banner on it from overstock, you will get a cookie from them. Best thing to do is to block 3rd party cookies from your internet options.

Next time you get email from them, report it as "SPAM." That way, it will not appear in your Inbox. That is what I did.

Also make sure to delete them from your address book (the web will add addresses automatically from time to time).

Best wishes.
