I would say check out Amtrak, long *** time but fairly cheap and better than bus which is probaly cheapest way

Compare Greyhound ticket (price) w/ airline ticket (price) online.
Use travelling sites help, such as Yahoo Travel, Priceline.com, or Expedia.com to find & compare air fare ticket.
Sometimes, you can save more if you book ur air ticket together with accomodation, and/or transportation.
Last but not least, timing is everything. Book your ticket in advance, avoid rush hour, and look for discount!
