Only a few crazy people are able to actually tell that they are crazy without counseling. The rest think they are sane. Like bipolar people who go off their pills.
One definition of insanity is not being able to tell reality from fantasy. I think that is too broad a definition.

The term "Crazy" isn't a clinical term. I suggest you do some research to find out what you mean by "crazy" and then try to ask a new question.
For instance, many people living with Schizophrenia understand that the voices that they hear in their head are not real, nor are the visual or tactile hallucinations that they might have. But these hallucinations are present in their condition and if a person is not on a medication regimen, these hallucinations can hinder their interaction with society.
Someone in a manic state however, might think they are acting normal, but the perception of the public would be otherwise.
You should read on it.

Yes crazy people can know and acknowledge they are crazy. And they can not understand reality at the same time. I have seen many war vets like this at many VA hospitals over the last 15 years who KNOW they are crazy and can't perceive reality.

Crazy people normally do not acknowledge the fact that they are crazy. Usually the person who might say, I think I have lost it or I am crazy are the ones who are usually sane. Chemical unbalance is one cause.

HA HA this sounds like the plot of "catch 22" an old war movie.
or like that guy who wears a dress in MASH.
you could get out of the military is you were crazy, but the catch was, if you were sane enough to know you were crazy and tried to get out, then you were not insane at all. The "Catch 22"

Someone wrote an article for the paper I'm editing saying that he once got delusional, but he was lucky because he was as far gone as he could be while still knowing that something was wrong.
I suppose the true definition of crazy is when you no longer know.

People can be crazy in different ways. There is no one way to be crazy, and you can't just call someone crazy beacause of the way they act, or look. People change when they're areound people or things. ^_^ hope you can understand.

Crazy people know they are crazy because in knowing they are crazy they can do crazy things, and sometimes being crazy is just an atteintion whore thing they just act "crazy" so they can be liked or acknowleged. But they do know that they are crazy. Hitler knew he was crazy, so does Osama and Saddam.

Crazy isn't a medical term. Some illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease will tell you they are confused. Schizophrenics think the voices they hear are normal. Bi polar people usually recognize their behavior is different only afterwards when their friends treat them differently.
