Registered Nurse here; Believe me I understand; It's necessary for they are checking for hernias, or other abnormalities that could cause you great medical injury should you have an abnormality. Hernia's many times occur without a person's knowledge and a large number are found by the physician feeling your testicles and having you cough. I'm so sorry, but yes it is necessary.

The doctor checks your testicles to make sure they have descended properly, to check for possible hernias, and to check for possible testicular cancer, which is more common in younger men than older men.

It's no worse than a woman having to put her feet up in stirrups and submit to a pap smear.

Hernia checks are not needed unless you have pain or swelling in the area, nurse here also.
