I think that depends on the teacher and the teaching techniques..I don't remember junior high but senior high was tough..however college is tougher and life is the toughest lessons of all.

My least favorite year (also hardest) , so far.... (im in eighth) was fifth grade. It was my first year of middle school. The teachers were all very demanding. They assigned homework every night... more than I got in 6th and 8th grade in a week, and no time to do it. I also made 3 B's that year... those B's, along with the 3 in fourth, were the only B's I had ever gotten in my life. And notice they weren't from 7th or 8th grade... they were from fourth and fifth. I found fourth grade quite enjoyable... I jsut didn't work hard enough that year... But fifth... The teachers, once again, were very strict: everything had to be done in cursive... no homework for a set number of times=detention... Wide Ruled Notebook Paper-college ruled unacceptable... etc. Fifth grade, transition year, was teh hardest so far...
Seventh grade was the easiest. I got about 1 homework assignments per week, TOTAL, and I completed it during seventh period math since I had extra time. I remember only having to take it home like three times that year. First of all, in 7th grade, giving homework on Wednesday or Friday was a no-no. Secondly, the LA, RE, and SS teachers never gave homework. The math teacher gave us 5 problems to do in 45 minutes... the rest is study hall. The science teacher is the one who gives us the Notetaking Guides... 10 minutes in math class.
However, my TCAP scores were highest in 5th grade... they were just mediocre in 7th.

I would say either 6th grade (socially) or 7th grade (academically).
6th grade is a bigger change emotionally and socially from 5th grade, where students move from elementary to middle school, and integrate with other students from other schools for the first time. Also, getting their own lockers and following a class schedule is a very new experience for students who did not have this in the fifth grade. The social factors, including greater awareness of boy-girl politics, can be especially distracting!
7th grade can be harder academically, depending on what state you are in and how well the textbooks follow the curricula. From tutoring 7th grade students (where I live in Houston, Texas) there was a more extensive introduction to biology (and even some pre-chemistry and pre-physics) added to the curricula without appropriate textbook material. I found science teachers, in particular, pulling materials from outside sources that went beyond the scope of 7th grade level. So this made it extremely difficult on students, as teachers seemed to be experimenting themselves, while waiting for new textbooks to come out.

I work in a high school, and I think it is 12th, because in 12th, it is your last year and the teachers are so demanding. There are many long college essays that have to be written ever marking period, because you are really getting prepared for the outside world,(college). Middle school are the wonder years, while high school is the real world!!!!!

I would say your junior year of high school. It often has similar negatives to the senior year like having to plan for college, taking standardized tests, ect. But it isn't as fun as your senior year. By senior year, you might be sick of high school, but there are some real fun parts too.

Freshman year of college was a very difficult adjustment for me. It was sobering to be so far from my family and to have so much responsibility.
