it will turn of , if i keep it pushed down.. if i let go it will turn on automatically.

reset it by pressing the middle button and the menu button at the same time for about 10 seconds

Try holding it longer?
My iPod did that once.
Maybe you're just freaking out...
Try holding the pause button down for 10-15 seconds.

in case you dont know how to reset
you press the Menu (top) and the Select (middle round thing) buttons
for abotu 10 seconds

weird.. how about if u push it down and while still pushing it put the lock button on too?

is your lock button on? if its not, the button might be jammed and u might have to take it to a shop or something....

let the batteries run out, and get it fixed, or get a new one...
