a colleague of mine was having persistent problems with her Passat too (an older model than '02). She was the one to do all the troubleshooting because the VW mechanics couldn't identify it. She ended up doing research and taking it back to them to show what they should be looking at (she said she could see the lightbulb go on over their heads).
Eventually she just got tired of all the repair bills and traded it in on a Honda Civic, after quizzing me about mine. I love my Civic. It's a 99 EX and while I'm really really grateful that I haven't had any major expenses (replaced the tires this year), I'm kind of ready for something new. But I can't justify trading this car in, because it's a little workhorse .. or the automotive equivalent of the Energizer Bunny: it keeps going and going and going...
I do love it, and when the time comes, I'll buy another Honda!

Oh,for the days,when a V W would run & run until the wheels
fell off.I'm afraid that those days are gone with the company's
interest in remaining competitive within the US market.
It's my understanding, from word-of-mouth & consumer reading,
that V W America,is long on warranty periods & very short on
customer service & satisfaction.
Point-of-law---it would seem to me that you have what is known
as a "pre-existing" condition that has NOT been resolved &
therefore, should be covered under the existing warranty as it was
when you took the car in to the dealer.
Do yourself a favor & call around to your legal community, find an
attorney to represent you.Perhaps,pro-bono or for a small fee.
If the average consumer tries to resolve a situation such as this,
on their own, much of the time the dealers & MFG.s will try to wage a "war of attrition" with them.
However,if they are contacted by a member of the legal commun-
ity,you will,at least,get their attention.In short,they don't want to
hear from the "legal beagles."It reeks of law suits & bad PR
Good luck & don't let these people get away with this bull-punk.

Your oil coolant line has broken, allowing super parts of oil to leak into the coolant resevoir. This has made the coolant the consistancy of dirt, which has in turn maximum possibly broken the thermostat. If it fairly is a a million.8t engine, oil transport issues and sludge are extremely subject-unfastened.
