This is a painful injury and not to mention annoying. we see a lot of these cases in children although not uncommon in adults. it sounds like you bruised the nail bed and possibly the bone. There is not much you can do for this unfotunately. They can splint your finger but keep in mind you will get charged 400.00 bucks just for something you can throw together at home for a buck. The best thing I can suggest is put yourself on a ibroufen therapy which is 800 mg every 6 hour even if no pain for 3 days. That will help immflammation and pain. If its swollen ice it on and off every 2-3 hours. You can splint it if it makes it feel better but no need to really. Your nail will eventually fall off but we are amazing machines so you will grow a new one no problem. I hope this helps and best of luck to you...Happy Holidays

If it is very painful, a doctor can drill a small hole into the nail and relieve some of the pressure from blood build up. You should also make sure the finger isn't broken. Or if any skin was broken, to prevent infection. In the meantime, keep your hand elevated higher than your heart, which will help relieve the throbbing pain you are probably experiencing. You can ice it and take some Tylenol, (not advil or aspirin, which can aggrevate bleeding)

that happened to my sister. she had a weight slammed on her finger. just splint it and wait for the nail to fall off. theres really nothing else you can do. but is your finger broken? because if so you might want to go see a doctor ASAP
