I am a Jamaican. Jamaica is a beautiful country. We have wonderful beaches, food, music and lots of great sights to see. The people here are usually friendly to tourists because they like being helpful and ensuring that they have a good time on their visit. I won't be hypocritical and tell you that there is no crime here. We do have crime in Jamaica just like every other country in the world. Usually the people that have never been here are the ones that point out that there is a crime problem here. They haven't experienced the island for themselves and just listen to hearsay. I recommend you come and enjoy our beautiful island and our rich culture for yourself and make your decision about the island after that.

Jamaica is a beautiful place. Especially Breezes in Runaway Bay. The people are very nice and friendly (irey) You should go to an alinclusive resort. If you have children the Star Fish is nice in Trelawnney and FDR in Runaway Bay. The Dunns River Falls is a must to see. Have fun

Totally go! I was a little bit leary before I left but once I got settled into the hotel and started talking to the locals it was great. They are very abrupt and sexually open but all in all they are a great people. I think you will love it defiantly hike Dunn's river falls and do an ATV tour through the mountains. Trust me I've done a lot of travelling and I would definitely go back to Jamaica man! No Problem!

My husband and I went to Negril, Jamaica for 1 week in May 2006. We had a great time!!!

The only bad thing about our trip was the "hustling" on the beach. The locals try really hard to sell you stuff: anything from day trips to the waterfalls to illegal drugs. If you politely AND firmly say "no, thank you" they will usually leave you alone. Other than that, we had a great time.

We stayed at an all-inclusive resort called Negril Gardens. It was not a 5-star resort, but it was fine for us. If you want more of a luxury resort, try Couples or Sandals, but expect to pay twice as much.

Definately go..we went and stayed in Runaway Bay and everyone said just to stay in the resort but i couldn't. We rented a taxi and went to Ocho Rios and it was great. If you go you will want to go to Dunn's River Falls and MargaritaVille.

I have been about 4 times, its beautiful, the people are friendly and courteous and the resorts are secure. The worst part is the ride from the airport to the resort.
