I thought only athlon computers have AMD technology

AMD is a brand of processor like Intel. You will have to look at Acer's website to see what the motherboard uses because they make motherboards for both brands. Athalon is a model of AMD processors.

AMD -Advanced Micro Devices- makes processors, and Athlon is the brand name for their processors. Acer is a computer assembly/vendor that uses various parts. And they make computers that have AMD processors, aka, Athlons.

AMD stand for Adcanced Mirco Device
now Athlon is type of chip such as P4 in Intel. Acer is a company that makes computer and they can make compteur with intel or AMD. I hope it helps.
