I have not been on Yahoo Answers for a couple months. At the time I got totally disgusted with the LGBT section. It was just full of the homophobic cute stuff and then some of the outright hate.

I tried to get Yahoo to do something. I suggested that some Gay/Lesbian rights groups take up the cause. Put some pressure on Yahoo to make it a viable section. It would really be quite easy--just have someone monitor it 24/7 and immediately delete the garbage.

I tried to through questions and answers to rally some support from other users.

But, I guess, like me, most serious users have just given up on the forum. I went through the questions and I would be surprised if even 10% of them are legitmate.

So did the hate mongers win here?

Becky, there are quite a few fighting the hate and directly with Yahoo. They have taken the fight to corporate offices, and outside of Yahoo. It will take more people saying "enough is enough" and taking directly with Yahoo. Use the suggestion message forum, and complain there, where oddly enough THAT is moderated. There are several threads on LGBT and the haters, but it will take more people complaining to get their attention.

The more people keep answering the Hate posters, the more they post hate. Do something constructive, not something snarky (which does no good)

I still visit the forum even though the haters are way more present here than the people who come here and take it serious and have a little innocent fun.I feel as though if i stop visiting this page they have won. They have destroyed what could have been a great resource for the LGBT community. And i do notice that every once in a while the ones who take it serious show up and ak or answer question well. People like Matt Z, Puffy and that Indy guy.

The hate mongers will never win. Those people are losers, living very sad lives. They are so unhappy with themselves they have to come here to bash just to make themselves feel better. How pitiful is that. I've done a lot of RAMO this morning and will continue to do so. When I'm feeling really sarcastic, sometimes I strike back. Most of the time they just don't get it. If we can keep our sense of humor we'll come out of this just fine.

I've been here less than a month and though I know it is too short a time to know, I've seen less hate in this section than when I first got here. I am an avid abuse reporter and I've been wondering if that has been having anything to do with it. Like I said, it's too early to tell for me but I am enjoying the current illusion that it's getting better.

I think the worst place I have seen is Women's Issues!

Oops: EDITED: "Women's Studies"

Don't worry, Sweetness, a lot of us a *real*. We're the ones who report the idiots and try and get Yahoo to do something. the hate-mongers don't win here unless my hands are broken and then I'll type with my feet. You want to see hate? Check Religion and Spirituality. There's very little of either going on there, poor creatures. Keep your chin up. We'll get through yet. Blessings.

They will never win. Their anti-gay jargin means nothing. Besides we need something to laugh at when we get depressed or bored. Their feeble minded attempts to undermine a flourishing culture which is only getting stronger weakens because of their inability to hold a rational logical argument to support their beliefs causing them to lash out with their cheap shots, like, name calling, I.e: Fag+++s, Gearbox, fruit, Poofter ( That one's hilarious ). This is primarily due to the lack of basic education in life skills. Their ways are primitive and devoid of any conclusive merit supporting their misquided beliefs, information, and common sense. Ignore the feeble plague that tries to reverse our progress. As we move forward so do the small minded move backward. We need them for comedy relief. Peace.

Dear Beccy C,
I was helped by people here when I desperately needed it. Strangely, I put a question on the Religious section and had among sympathetic replies, one that helped me understand what my partner went through in a hospice. You can find golden goodness in odd places. I hope you will find a grain or two of kindness among the chaff.
Love, Rose P.

I agree, we could do with a FAQ field to comb the repetitive questions into. There are nonetheless many human beings, however, who mispost strictly heterosexual questions in LGBT, who deserve and could get stupid solutions. to not point out the occasional phobe who wanders in from R&S to attempt the purity of their immortal soul in this seething hotbed of sin. i think of the imaginitive trolls customarily inhabit places like Politics and R&S in recent times. you may get some real action there, once you're arranged to possibility your account.

Nah, I'm still here. There are a few of the others too but some have moved on. I still say to try to get a response out of them we need to get "outside" pressure, such as from Planet Out.
