it is better to distance yourself because that person belives the lies that they are telling. When a person lies so much the lies become reality to them

It seems you are very very nice person who gave multiple chances but she still managed to lie to you. These people are sick and they don't even know it and when someone rushes to help them they are so lost in their own thoughts (which they think it's the right thing to do) that they put themselves in nasty situations and ruin their and who ever around them.
in other word, they are extremely Selfish and self involved person.
One thing that i believe in is, when you lie, you just isolate yourself from the truth, when that happens no one can ever help you in life since they don't know what is trully going on with you in life...so you become this FAKE person that no one wants to deal with.

Some people are ADDICTED to it. It's their way to compensate for other areas that they may lack in, such as confidence, looks, friends, personality. Some take it to the extreme and down right criminal. It's up to you to filter truth from fiction. Sometimes you may have to call them to the carpet to bring them back to EARTH.

Well you don't have to put up with it. But you need to make them aware of the fact, that they have a problem, and they need to address the issue. Have a great holiday!
