As strange as it may sound, the safest thing to do is stay where you are. If you are on the move, rescuers would have a tougher time finding not just where you were but where you are going. This takes a lot of patience, but your chances are much better.

Use my cellphone. Either way I live in an area where any direction you walk you will get out of the woods in like half an hour tops. But if I were lost in woods like in The Blair Witch Project than it would be different. I guess I would follow water if I found a stream, water always (I think ) takes you to larger bodies of water, and usually you will find a lake or river with some type of civilization near it.

before i get in the forest i would take a compass. if you have no compass look at the sun remember the sun rises n the east and sets in the west

i will climb to the top of a tree or go to the highest point of the forest to see which way is best to leave the forest... or use a compass to go to the direction which i came from... =)

try to find food find water do what ever you can to servive and if you find someone ask them for help back to where you live.
