Golf umbrellas are a bit sporty for my tastes. I dunno. Maybe you have to be English to pull off the umbrella thing.

My husband has a wonderful London Fog brand umbrella he bought at Gottschalks. It has a curved, wooden handle and a wooden tip about 2 inches long. The fabric is black. It is great quality and looks very nice

Search for Golf Umbrellas. They are usually huge, and stylish. Looks really good. I have a golf type umbrella that has my University's Logo on it. Its big and durable. The rods on Golf umbrellas are usually made of a durable plastic, so if the wind blows it inside out, it won't be ruined.

I've seen some real "manly" at Borders, Target, and Eddie Bauer
also, you could find some "unique" ones at any art store, if you're into uniqueness and art.

there's this one that's at Sharper Image and it's black and it's designed so the wind won't blow it inside-out...
