I am wondering if its worth buying the Xbox 360 and games or waiting to buy the Ps3 at retail value taking into account that i have a ps2 and a few games for it now.

Ive gotten alot of good answers. I can read the reviews and have many times and I know the ps3 has better specs but is it really as good as it appears to be and is it really worth $600? I'm not planning on using it for music and not often movies unless the Blu-ray is all that it has been said to be so if i decided to buy the Ps3 should I get the 20 GB or 60 GB?

I think you should get the xbox 360 or the PS3. They are "next generation" game consoles that are way better than the old xbox or ps2.

k, man let me tell u this, im not an Xbox or Microsoft freak........and i own a Ps2 a year and a half ago or something and i have like 22 or more games...........i bought the Ps2 cuz ppl said that it has more fun games to play and the controller is easier to use compared to Xbox, and yes i like it, i got my money's worth.

BUT, this time it seems the opposite.....Xbox has bought all the great game title's that Playstation had, and they are already out. Most games on Ps3 are the crappy japanese games that arent even fun to play. And the price is a lot cheaper than the Ps3 too, when the graphics and computer power is about the same; u arent gonna use the big high tech stuff that they have, thats just their way to sell their stuff. Also, they screwed the Ps3 controller by copying the Wii, but the Xbox controller i think is the same and i played Xbox at my friends house and it wasnt bad, actually i kinda liked it. And the Xbox live feature is the best thing, u dont neccesarily have to pay $50 per year, u get the silver membership which is free and has the main features if u buy the premium Xbox360. While the Ps3 online feature is crappy that some ppl hardly use(i never use the Ps2 online feature). So in Xbox live, u can go and play with ppl all over the world which is the real fun thing, over and over.

So, for a cheaper price, Big well known games that are fun, same kind of great graphics(compared to Ps3) that arent even fully exploited because of the Huge capacity and potential, and a great live feature, the Xbox360 is really worth buying it.

Im saving money to get mine; dont act loyal to a console, get what's better for you.

If you really enjoyed your PS2 as much as it sounds like you did, I'd wait for the PS3.

The price seems high, but you couldn't buy the parts that make up a PS3 for less. Sony is taking a loss on every unit sold.

Also, the price difference between the 360 and the PS3 is deceptive. The 360 is $300, for the Core package. But the Core package is garbage and no one wants it. The regular package is $400, let's compare.

The extra hundred dollars means you get: The Detachable 20 Gig HDD, Ethernet Cable, Chrome Finish, the XBox Live Headset, the XBox Remote, the Wireless Game Pad and the AV Cables required to take advantage of HD TV Compatability. The Core Package gives you NONE of that. There's almost no point in buying a Core Package.

Now look at the difference between the PS3 and the PS3 Premium packages, also a price difference of about a hundred dollars.

That price difference translates into a 60 Gig HDD instead of a 20 Gig, Chrome Trim, Built in Wi-Fi connectivity (This can be bought seperately for the Standard PS3) and a Flash card reader.

This is not nearly as big of a difference, so unless a massive HDD, out-of-the-box Wi-Fi capability or Flash card readers are incredibly important to you, you can get the $500 system and really not notice much of a difference.

For all intents and purpouses, there is only a hundred dollar difference between the two systems. This is a matter of personal preffrence, obviously, but I think it's pretty clear what the value is.

So, the only huge make-it or break-it points are how long you'll have to wait for a PS3 (That could be up to even six months) or multi-playability.

XBox Live is a really, really good reason to own an XBox 360 and both XBox Packages come with a month of Live Gold level membership and a Silver Membership to kick in afterwords. And I highly doubt that anyone will create a multiplayer feature that is as universal and complete as XBox Live, this generation. XBox Live is *THE* reason to own a 360.

I've broken it down for you now, the decision is up to you.

It depends on the person. It looks like your family is pretty into games, so I'm going to say both the PSP and PS3 will be good buys. I'm getting PS3 specifically for Metal Gear Solid 4. I already own a Xbox 360, and I'm pretty happy with it, so MGS4 is my only reason for wanting a PS3. If you're satisfied with your Xbox 360 and don't want to spend another $400 (or more) on another system, just stick with the Xbox 360.

It's worth it to buy the 360 because of the nex gen line up of huge titles that are coming greatly with it. Most ppl say the ps3 is better cause there sony freaks but if u want the cheaper method get a wii and have some fun with the faulty straps. But a 360 would be best in all cases as it has more power and better graphics and the progammers utilize every last pixel to make u enjoy it on the ps3 it's kinda blocky on games and the great title wont be out for it till late 2007!!!

I would wait for mid 2007 to get he PS3 because you know as well as I do that any system this advanced is going to have a few bugs to be worked out. By this time the price might have come down some as well. Even if it hasn't, the blue-ray DVD player is well worth the money. But I wouldn't buy it for the DVD player only because the more you use the player, the more wear it takes and its only amount of time before it stops reading games as well. The Blue Ray discs can stand up to sand paper but the disc is only as good as it laser. (Common Problem for the XBOX with its first release) But to answer your question, yes the PS3 will blow the 360 out of the water, you should most definitely wait.

Buy a ps3 this system is the best and will win the console war between xbox 360 and wii. This is proven through past compition in the console war. The ps3 has a ibm processor that is like a supercomputer! The technology and it's appear is just amazing and graphics state of the arts.

I'd buy the X Box 360 ONLY IF YOU PURCHASE THE $60.00 warranty that comes in the box immediately!!!!. The XBOX 360 only has a 3 month warranty on it. It seems what I have read a lot of people have had trouble with it. I'd also make sure I bought the 399.00 one, it has more in it. The PS3 is good from what I hear too. but I wanted to tell you about the X BOX 360. Good Luck

You just answer your own question right there. Since you only have a few ps2 games and there are also only a few ps3 games out there, you're better off with the xbox360. It's cheaper, has more games out right now, xbox live is fun and the graphic is killer.

I don't think you shouldn't get either for now. Currently, neither has anything good games out yet ( a lot at least), except gear of war for the 360 (whatever you do, don't buy a console for one game), wait til their libraries develop a little more.
