& why do we say that, go off, when it is really going ON?

My inlaws does. I found that out one morning that we were staying there while I was pregnant. We had to go back out of town really early for my sonogram and had to be on the road by 5 AM. I was trying to be really quiet so I wouldn't wake anyone up and when I opened the bathroom door the steam came out and set it off. So much for trying to be quiet!

I incredibly have the comparable undertaking, yet its because of the fact I incredibly have a smoke/warmth detector. If the air in the bathing room is in simple terms too heat after the bathe that is going to set off the alarm. once I bathe, I open and close the door some situations to enable the warmth air out of the bathing room in short bursts so the alarm would not pass off anymore. a sturdy thank you to confirm could be to teach on the fan in the bathing room in case you have one. Unfortunatley I stay in an older homestead and don't have one.

no. I dont know but it does make more sense for the smoke detector to come on instead of go off.

Yes, it does, and it drives me crazy! It is rught outside the bathroom door, and the steam sets it off, every time.

I have it covered with a towel...

It does, because i am so hot, when water touches me, a lot of steam arises and this always sets off the alarm. And i am not sure why we call it turning off when it is turning on
