with todays fuel at the pumps having so many additives in it to help it burn, petrol doesn't really have such a long shelf life. If fuel is left for any long period of time, the fuel additives settle in the lowest part of any system and cuases all amounts of problems when you next go to try and start your bike/car up. The injection/carb pulls through all the gum/tarnish and refuses to start, resulting in your misfire.
Drain the float bowl/lower carb and drain the fuel tank and put fresh fuel in the system, most bikes nowadays have a prime part to the fuel c0ck/tap, turn it to that position or just on and either kick start or thumb the starter, once you have managed to draw through the fresh fuel it should start but will most probably idle quite lumpy, keep it idling and with the bike using fresh fuel it will wash away any gum/tarnish with it, try and avoid trying to rev the bike until its warm enough as this will enable it to warm up properly and use more fresh fuel.Hope this helps, Good luck!
Cheers
Andy
