Well, if I were still on the ship -- I would say that it smells really bad, because there's no freash water to bathe and back then hygeine was really bad. I would say that I felt sick because of the rough sea, and I'd talk about how excited I am about going to new land to start my life over, despite being an indentured servant, I still can escape from the despair from my homeland.

First of all you couldn't possibly write a letter because those servants weren't provided with any paper or writing materials. Even if you did have those items, you couldn't write a letter because the servants were stacked 6-10 people on top of each other and no extra room at the top of the stack. If you ever got a chance later to write about it, you would probably talk about how you nearly died from suffocation and/or diease from lack of bathrooms for several weeks.

Sorry to be a wet balnket, but if I were an indentured servant, I probably wouldn't be able to write.

Gee, that's not for an essay or anything, is it?
I'd write about how everyone is getting bit by rats and crapping all over themselves. After scurvy and lice infected everyone, they all died and were thrown overboard.
