Idaho, there are WAY less people, WAY less traffic, and beautiful scenery

northern California....better weather. try Sacramento or north of there. The climate is good. if you do live in the Sacramento valley...you will be just a few hours drive from the beach, and the mountains.

I guess it depends on what you like. Personally I would prefer northern California. Somewhere near the Redwoods.
