First off check to make sure your computer is up to specs to play it,also close down any other programs that may be running, they should tell you on the box the minimum you need to play and what they suggest, if your computer meet all the minimum, then look at the readme file that comes with it because they usually list known bugs that could appear, if that does not help, go onto there website and see if they have an upto date list, usually look for help or a faq link, once you have looked all of that up, if that still doesnt work, you could try contacting the website, though if none of that works, there may be a problem with your computer

Hey,
based on my personal experience with game crashes (i usually repair systems with similar problems), i'd say that there's a thousand reason why ur game isn't working.
It is usually linked to programs running in the background that conflict with the game, or miscommunication between the game and your video and/or sound card.
I'd recommend two things:
1. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srl is a website that analyses ur system (hardware, drivers, and softwares), and compares it to the specifiacations from the manufacturer. Basicly, it tells u what's missing in ur pc to make the game work perfectly.
2. Note the exact words in ur error message, then go to http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_sid=IuTZ3Foi&p_lva=&p_li=&p_accessibility=&p_page=1&p_cv=&p_pv=3.701&p_prods=7%2C700%2C701&p_cats=0&p_hidden_prods=&prod_lvl1=7&prod_lvl2=700&prod_lvl3=701&cat_lvl1=0&p_search_text=&p_new_search=1&p_search_type=wizardsearch
Type "crash" in the "search text" menu, and they'll give u a complete list of reasons why ur game crashes, and how to fix it.
P.S: If you need some mods, objects, skins, houses..... Try this site: http://www.thesimsresource.com.
Enjoy!

Some program will crash when u have multiple programs running due to need for memory allocation.
will will crash when u try to run another program/game which both will take up different source code to run it, which will have the CPU to make decission to force disable both programs.
or simple ur CPU cannot support the requirement to run it.
