I am looking to relocate to North Carolina area, Charlotte or Raleigh. I have been applying online for quite some time but no takers. I will have to have a job as soon as possible. Is it better to move there first then apply or should I just continue to apply online from my current home and hope that there is some intrest eventually?

You should just continue to apply online from your home, if that don't work out, relocate to Charlotte.

How insulting! North Carolina has some of the top universities in the country, so I would bet most of the people there could read and write (especially in the Charlotte/Raleigh area). They do not have much trouble with hurricanes in Charlotte and Raleigh and we do have all 4 seasons. There is plenty to do in those larger cities, as well as mountains and ocean close by. There is a lot of diverse culture in the larger cities, as people come there to go to college and stay after they graduate. I've never been to Seattle so I'm not going to say much about it, but I have lived in Raleigh and it was awesome.

Don't move until you have a job. That seems dangerous. Maybe take some vacation there and go look for a job while on vacation. Try to meet people head to head. Maybe find someone in the field you work in and call them ask them if you can buy them lunch and pick their brain on how to find a job in that market.
