I work for a company that's busiest time of the year is over xmas and its also the hardest time of the year to get people to work the nature of the business means it runs 24 hours a day 365 days a year my xtmas shifts have only just come out which annoys me as its now the 8th of december and while im only supposed to work either xtmas eve or new years eve i find myself working from 6pm-2am xmas eve and 12pm-8pm new years eve and also working the fri-sat evenings between xmas and new years and ALSO working on new years day, which basicly gives me no life whatsoever!!..Although id obviously like the money im not in desperate need and ive been contemplaying handing my notice in for sometime as i dont have set shifts and never get the shifts i desire.. Ultimately what i wanna know is, is it unfair that i wanna enjoy xmas and not have to work the entirety of it or should i stick it out and look for something new in jan? (ive already quieried my shifts and they cant be changed!!)

seems no one bothered to arrange one holiday or the other off for you,so are you a ''''''''valued employee? doesn't sound like it,is the boss working both hollidays..or just you.. either way with good notice, and you not happy in your work, with prospects for better giving appropiate notice is best, you should not burn your bridges.if one week's notice is all they require...and you really don't nned the money ..I say DO It.. Merry Christmas!!Life is too short to waste time.

Someone already already summed it up: "You're number one." I have worked through many holidays and it sucks. I think the first question you have to ask yourself is how dedicated you are to the job. This one is pretty much answered, so the next question is how dedicated are you to your fellow employees. I quit a job around the same time many years ago and I found that I did not care for the employees what-so-ever. I had no ties to any of my fellow coworkers and I knew that I'd quit regardless, so it was better to enjoy my holiday season and keep my sanity intact.

I'm working through the holiday season once again, but I enjoy my job and I enjoy working with my coworkers. You just gotta pick your battles and decide if this one is even worth it. Good luck.

Leaving the pastime early with out being there a protracted era of time should not be an situation, it really is going to in common words matter interior the way that you handle it on your next interview in the journey that they ask. you need to be very tactful in what you're saying about the problem to destiny employers. yet on an aspect note, appears like your manager is on a consistent capacity vacation. Yelling at you in the front of different workers is quite unprofessional and immature. if you're annoyed at your pastime and it depresses you to even bypass to paintings then you may want to stop. there is yet another pastime someplace, and also you may discover it.

Not to sound corney but you should be more of a mercenary about this. If your not happy...leave. The company you work for would let you go if circumstances dictated that was what was needed. If you work with a lot of people you are friends with and feel guilty about leaving them there that is an admirable quality. But, if they are really good friends they'll be happy that you were able to get out of such a crappy situation.

Yeah, like they really care if they had to fire you because they weren't making much money. Even if it meant you'd be out on the streets, they'd let you go in an instant.

I'd quit. You're nice enough to even bother giving notice. Maybe if you hand in your notice and it's clear you're serious about leaving, maybe they'll negotiate a deal with you. Good luck.

wellll..i did the same thing last year. i worked at hallmark and quit december 15th. very busy. they pretty much did the same thing, lots of scheduling and rearranging. i felt bad and it was hard to quit, but i had a great holiday & was pretty stress free. i would recommend it. it's just a job, not worth your happiness.

You have to learn to put yourself first. If the right thing for you is to quit, do it. They would fire you before Xmas if it was the right thing to do, wouldn't they?
