I just started a new job about a month ago. There is a 90 day probation period. I'm in customer service, and I'm really starting to think it's not for me. There's so many things to keep straight, like the number of days the guarantees are good for, you're only supposed to speak on the phone for so long (which seems nearly impossible), and I keep asking the supervisor for help because I honestly can't think of what to do.
I study the info all the time, but still feel so confused. Also, we're responsible for convincing a certain percentage of people to keep the products, and I'm meeting it with the most popular product we do, but not with the others.
My new boss told me if I wasn't "fully trained" by this coming Friday they'd have to let me go. I need this job--for six months before this, I was unemployed, and can't afford to be out of work again.
I am despairing about this--I have never been fired from any job, and would be devestated if this happened.

Well maybe this job isn't for you. The best thing is to be honest with yourself. If you dont want to get fired then leave.
Look for a new job that you prefer.

Or you could speak to you boss , tell them the problems you are having maybe they can help. Ask them exactly what you need to work on and tell them how much you enjoy the job and you really want to try to work right. basically you will have ot **** lick. Think of the things you are good at or speak to some fellow workers can they give you any hints or tips. Ask your boss what you need to work on.
I have been there I know how you feel and it sucks
good luck.

First. Tell your boss your fears and show serious initiative to do better. AKA, ask "what can I do to better my performance because I feel that what I am doing is not allowing me to work at my potential" let him/her inform you. ask for suggestions, take criticism modestly and be HONEST. Treat him/her like any other person in your life-don't try to impress because that comes across as fake.

Also, follow others' advice. post your resume everywhere, check the want ads, ask around, mention that you're looking for a new job when you are talking to people that seem interested. Never keep looking because you might find something that you enjoy too!

Good luck, keep your chin up, don't listen to people that aren't trying to help.
Peace.

Start preparing your resume, do some soul searching about what you want to do, and start applying for other places. In the mean-time, when you boss tells you that you need to be fully trained, ask the boss to be specific and give examples about what you did wrong or are not trained in and ask the boss to show you. It's hard to know what you don't know.

get fired and apply for unemployment sounds like your working for a call center I used to do temp work and my agency sent me to one of those I could do the work just fine but they flat out wanted me to lie to customers so the company wouldn't have to return the money to the customer unless they asked for a full refund just asking for a refund only got you 50-75% of your money back asking for full refund got it all back. Most of the customers were elderly and had no clue. I stayed 2 days and went back to the agency that sent me an said "I'm sorry I don't work for a company that forces the employees to lie to customers to make 8 bucks an hour was fired and got unemployment for the following month when I found a great job
